David Robinson is a Northern Irish artist based in London. For the last six years his artwork has combined his passion for photography and food, producing magnificent and highly original Fungi Luminograms in his east-end darkroom.
Robinson is also co-founder of Sporeboys, a mushroom street-food kitchen touring food markets in London and events across the UK. Sporeboys food has been celebrated in The New York Times and The Independent – loyal local and international customers flock each week to Broadway Market to savour their mushroom medley sandwich. Commercial clients have included Pfizer, Adobe, Penguin, Sony and EMI. David's work was selected for inclusion in Picturing Eden (Steidl 2007) . Also in 2007, he featured in BBC series Britain in Pictures - filmed whilst photographing ballrooms and other inspirational buildings in the province where he grew up. He has had solo shows in London and Belfast and work included in various international group exhibitions. David collaborated with Gorilla Perfume / LUSH, creating a Luminogram to help promote one of their newly released fragrances titled, 'Mycelium'. He also featured on, The Food Programme (Mushrooms) - BBC Radio 4. His most recent book (and second for children) titled, 'Penny Bun Helps Save the World' was published in September 2018 by GOST. |
